Who We Are
|
|
|
|
James Kastenholz - Owner
Like you, I am a homeowner who has dealt with the upkeep and remodeling issues for my home. Having worked in construction, I enjoyed working on my house. But several years ago I faced a dilemma you may have: my free time was decreasing and my family was growing. Spending time with my

family was far more important than dealing with maintenance projects around the house. The challenge was to find someone who would give an honest quote, arrive on time (or even at all!), do the work, and make sure I was satisfied with the end result. As you know, such people are hard to find.
Since our founding in 1998 we have expanded our services. We still offer a full line of handyman and small project services, but have added the ability to do large and involved renovations and additions. We have built the team that can handle your project, from design through the final punchlist, in a professional manner.

Peter Mueller – Project Manager
Peter (Pete) Mueller has been a Project Manager with Total Home since the summer of 2000. His vast construction experience combined with his warm personality has lent itself well to managing the handyman and small project division of Total Home. After graduating with a B.S. from a small liberal arts college, Pete

entered the trades as an electrician, acquiring journeyman status. For many years he was self-employed in the custom fabric industry, designing and installing window coverings for residential clients and the film industry (movie credits included Home Alone 2, Curly Sue, Hoffa, and several others). His project management skills came while heading the construction division of Habitat for Humanity for the north side of Chicago. During this time, Chicago Habitat became the leading developer of multi unit housing for all of Habitat affiliates nation-wide. Other business ventures include ownership of a custom picture frame business and art gallery. Pete was born near Chicago, and returned after seeing the world to make this his home for the past 21 years. He works to support his family’s habit of kids as he and his wife home school all six of their children.

maintaining multi-unit buildings and properties. He enjoys his grandchild (yes we thought he was too young as well), his garden and working on the never ending projects around his home. He has put two of his children through college, one now a police officer, the other a pharmacist. Chicago has been home for his family for over 30 years.

Our Handyman division is designed to give you help with those smaller projects that always seem to be coming up, but never quite get done – those time-consuming items that often fall into what some have called the ‘HoneyDo’ list. Things you could do but just don’t have the time or energy for. Call Total Home for your repairs needing light carpentry, drywall patching, tile work, or light electrical and plumbing. (Yes, we even do windows.)
